Medina County is actively accepting applications for the highly responsible position of Elections Administrator. This role serves as the County Voter Registrar and County Election Officer, appointed by the Medina County Election Commission. The selected candidate will organize and conduct elections, manage the department budget, supervise staff, and ensure strict compliance with the Texas Election Code. This is an Exempt position reporting directly to the Medina County Election Commission.

Candidates must be prepared to work long, irregular hours during election seasons and maintain the highest level of security for election records and voting equipment. This position offers a competitive salary of $67,901.50 along with Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits after a 60-day period. 🇺🇸

📋 Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Category Detailed Function
🗳️ Election Management Plans, organizes, coordinates, performs, and manages all facets of Federal, State, County, and contracted local political subdivision elections. Serves as the Early Voting Clerk for all applicable elections.
📝 Voter Registration Maintains voter registration records, processes status changes, ensures database accuracy, issues voter registration certificates, and maintains street indexes for proper precinct assignment.
🔒 Security & Compliance Monitors and manages the security of election records, voting equipment, and other items according to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission schedule. Develops and implements policies in compliance with state/federal laws.
💰 Budget & Liaison Prepares and manages the annual budget. Serves as County liaison to Local, State, and Federal officials, political party chairs, and community leaders regarding election matters.
👥 Supervision Supervises, recruits, and manages hourly department staff and temporary election workers. Conducts state-mandated Election training.

🎓 Qualification Requirements

✅ Education & Experience

  • 🎓 Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (Some college preferred).
  • 🏢 Experience: 5 or more years’ experience in Federal, State, or County Government.
  • Preferred: Elections office administration experience.
  • 👔 Supervisory: Must have experience hiring and training a staff of 3 or more.

📜 Licenses, Certifications & Restrictions

  • 🚗 License: Valid Texas Driver License.
  • 🗳️ Voter Status: Must be a registered voter of the State of Texas.
  • 🚫 Restriction: May not be a candidate for public office, hold a public office, or hold a position in a political party.
  • 💰 Bond: Ability to post a bond set by Commissioners’ Court (not to exceed $20,000).
  • 🗣️ Language: Bilingual in Spanish (Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish required).

  • Stress: Ability to remain calm and function under stressful conditions.

ℹ️ Special Requirements

  • Must sign a yearly contract renewal upon performance evaluation.
  • Must complete the Public Information Act training module within 90 days of employment.
  • Must be familiar with Election Code and its statutes.
  • Must be meticulous in submitting time-sensitive materials to the Secretary of State.
  • Willing to promote voting throughout the County and remain impartial.
