Government of India, Ministry of Communication, Department of Posts has released the notification (No. 17-37/2025-GDS) for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-I, January 2026. Applications are invited for the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevaks. There are approximately 28,740 vacancies across various circles in India. Selection is purely based on 10th Class Merit (Marks). Interested candidates can register starting 31st January 2026. 👇 Check complete schedule, salary slab, and eligibility below.

🎓 Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification:

• ✅ 10th Class Passed: Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard having passed in Mathematics and English.
• ✅ Local Language: Must have studied the local language (of the applied Circle) at least up to 10th Standard.

2. Other Qualifications:

• ✅ Knowledge of Computers.
• ✅ Knowledge of Cycling.
• ✅ Adequate means of livelihood.

3. Age Limit (As on 16.02.2026):

• 🔹 Minimum Age: 18 Years
• 🔹 Maximum Age: 40 Years

Relaxation: SC/ST (5 Yrs), OBC (3 Yrs), PwD (10 Yrs), PwD+OBC (13 Yrs), PwD+SC/ST (15 Yrs).

💸 Application Fee

• 🔸 UR / OBC / EWS (Male): Rs. 100/-
• 🔸 All Female Candidates: FREE (Nil)
• 🔸 SC / ST Candidates: FREE (Nil)
• 🔸 PwD / Transwomen: FREE (Nil)

The selection will be made as per the System Generated Merit List based on the merit position of the candidate.

• 📌 No Exam: Selection is based solely on marks obtained in 10th Class.
• 📌 Marks Calculation: Marks obtained in all subjects of 10th Standard are aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals.
• 📌 Grades to Marks: If a board awards grades (A1, A2, etc.), they will be converted to marks using a multiplication factor of 9.5.

📝 How to Apply?

1. Visit the official website: indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
2. Stage 1 (Registration): Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) using Mobile No. & Email.
3. Stage 2 (Apply): Log in using the Registration Number, select the Circle, and fill in the application form.
4. Stage 3 (Preferences): Select the Division and exercise preferences for posts (Option 1, 2, 3, etc.).
5. Stage 4 (Fee & Upload): Pay the fee (if applicable) and upload photo/signature.
6. Stage 5 (Print): Submit and print the application.
