Government of India, Ministry of Communication, Department of Posts has released the official notification (No: 17-37/2025-GDS) for the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-I, January 2026. Applications are invited from eligible candidates to fill vacant posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevaks in different offices of the Department of Posts across the country.
This is a massive opportunity for 10th Pass candidates. The selection will be based purely on the Merit List (10th Standard Marks), and there will be NO Written Exam. 🎓 Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification
- ✅ Secondary School Examination (10th Std) Pass: Passing certificate with Mathematics and English (having been studied as compulsory or elective subjects).
- ✅ Local Language: Must have studied the local language of the applied Circle at least up to 10th Standard.
2. Other Qualifications
- 💻 Knowledge of Computers.
- 🚴 Knowledge of Cycling (Mandatory for all posts).
- 🏠 Adequate means of livelihood.
3. Age Limit (As on 16.02.2026)
Candidate must be between 18 Years and 40 Years.

⚔️ Selection Process (Merit Based)
The selection of candidates will be done based on a System Generated Merit List based on the following rules:- 📊 Marks/Grades: Selection is based on marks obtained in the 10th Standard (Secondary School Examination).
- 🔢 Precision: Aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals.
- 🔄 Grade Conversion: For boards giving Grades/Points, the multiplication factor is 9.5.
Grade Point Mul. Factor A1 10 9.5 A2 9 9.5 B1 8 9.5 - ⚠️ No weightage will be given for higher educational qualifications or past experience.

- 🔸 UR / OBC / EWS (Male): ₹ 100/-
- 🔸 Female / Trans-women: Exempted (Nil)
- 🔸 SC / ST / PwD: Exempted (Nil)

📝 How to Apply?
- Visit the official portal: indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement.
- Step 1 (Registration): Click on “Registration” and enter Mobile, Email, Name, Father’s Name, DOB, Community, etc. Get your Registration Number.
- Step 2 (Apply Online): Log in using Reg Number and Circle applying for. Fill out the application form.
- Step 3 (Choose Preferences): Select the Division and exercise preferences for posts (BPM/ABPM). You can select multiple posts within a Division.
- Step 4 (Upload Documents):
- Recent Photograph (JPG, 30-100 KB).
- Signature (JPG, 20-100 KB).
- Step 5 (Fee Payment): Pay ₹ 100/- (if applicable) online.
- Step 6 (Print): Submit and take a printout of the application form.
