Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has officially released the detailed notification (Notification No. CO/APPR/2026/01) for the engagement of Trainee Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 (as amended). Online applications are invited from eligible and dynamic Indian nationals who have passed out during the years 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 for enrollment as Graduate Apprentices, Technician (Diploma) Apprentices, and General Stream Graduates.

There are a total of 190 training slots spread across Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics disciplines, and General streams (BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BMS, etc.). The duration of the apprenticeship training will be exactly one year. A mandatory pre-requisite for this recruitment is that candidates MUST have a valid and approved NATS ID generated from the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme portal. Crucial Rules regarding passing year & conditions:

• ✅ Candidates MUST have passed the qualifying examination within the last 5 years: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, & 2025.
• ✅ Candidates must register themselves online with the NATS portal and obtain a valid approved NATS ID prior to applying.
• ✅ Candidates already possessing higher qualifications will receive no additional weightage.
• ✅ Those who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Act are NOT eligible.

📜 Category-I: Graduate Apprentices (BE/B.Tech)

• 📌 Electrical Engineering: BE/B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics & Power Engineering OR a combination of any sub-stream of basic Electrical streams.
• 📌 Electronics Engineering: BE/B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Information Technology / Communication Engg. / Computer Science & Engg. / Computer Engineering OR combination of sub-streams.
• 📌 Mechanical Engineering: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical / Industrial / Automobile / Production Engineering.

📜 Category-II: Technician (Diploma) Apprentices

• 📌 Civil Engineering: Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• 📌 Electrical Engineering: Diploma in Electrical / Electronics & Power Engineering OR combination of sub-streams.
• 📌 Electronics Engineering: Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Information Technology / Communication Engg. / Computer Science & Engg. / Computer Engineering.
• 📌 Mechanical Engineering: Diploma in Mechanical / Industrial / Automobile / Production Engineering.

📜 Category-III: General Stream Graduates

• 📌 General Graduates: Candidates holding a Degree in Bachelor of Arts (B.A) / Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) / Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) / Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) / Bachelor of Management Science (BMS) / Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication / Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS).

🧑‍🎓 Age Limit & Category Relaxations

Age limit calculated as on: 01.01.2026

• 🔸 Minimum Age Limit: 18 Years
• 🔸 Maximum Age Limit: 25 Years
• (i.e., Date of Birth should be strictly between 01.01.2001 to 01.01.2008)

⚖️ Permissible Age Relaxations:

• 🟢 SC / ST Candidates: Upper age relaxation of 5 Years.
• 🟢 OBC-NCL Candidates: Upper age relaxation of 3 Years.

💸 Stipend Details & DBT Mechanism

The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism has been implemented. The Government of India directly transfers its share to the apprentices’ bank accounts. KRCL will pay the balance 50% (Establishment’s share) as follows:

• ✅ Graduate Apprentices: Rs. 4,500/- p.m. (KRCL Establishment share)
• ✅ Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: Rs. 4,000/- p.m. (KRCL Establishment share)

*Note: Candidates must possess an AADHAR-linked Bank Account in their own name and a PAN card to ensure seamless transfer of the stipend through DBT. Candidates will have to make their own lodging/boarding arrangements.

⚔️ Mode of Selection & Preferences

The selection process for the KRCL Apprenticeship 2026 is strictly based on Merit. No written exam or interview will be conducted. The criteria are as follows:

• 📝 Stage 1: Preparation of Merit List: For all categories, the total marks obtained across all years/semesters will be summed up to calculate an aggregate percentage. No rounding off or specific semester weightage will be given.
• ⚖️ Tie-Breaking Rule: If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate will be selected. If DOB is also the same, the one who passed matriculation earlier will be preferred.
• 📄 Stage 2: Document Verification (DV): Candidates equalling 3 times the number of notified seats will be called for the first round of DV.

🏆 Selection Preferences Provided by KRCL:

• 🥇 First Preference (Land Losers): Candidates whose land was acquired for the Konkan Railway Project. This includes the person himself/herself, spouse, son, unmarried daughter, paternal grandson, and paternal unmarried granddaughter.
• 🥈 Second Preference (Local Jurisdictions): Candidates belonging to specific districts: Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg (Maharashtra), North Goa, South Goa (Goa), Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada (Karnataka).

Note: The processing fee must be paid online. It is completely non-refundable. Candidates claiming waiver must produce appropriate certificates/affidavits during DV.

1. Step 1 (Mandatory Prerequisite): Candidates must be registered and verified on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal. Keep your approved NATS ID ready.
2. Step 2: Visit the official Konkan Railway Corporation Limited website: https://konkanrailway.com/.
3. Step 3: Navigate to “Quick Links” ➔ “Graduate Apprentice/Technician Apprentice for training in KRCL”.
4. Step 4: Register your candidature. A unique registration number will be generated and sent to your email and mobile. Keep it safe.
5. Step 5: Login and fill the online application form. Enter names EXACTLY as recorded in the 10th (Matriculation) certificate.
6. Step 6: Upload a recent Passport size Photograph and your Signature.
7. Step 7: Pay the Rs 100 application fee online (if applicable) and submit the application finally before 21/03/2026.

📁 Mandatory Documents to be furnished in Original during Document Verification (DV):

• All Semester/Year-wise Mark sheets along with Degree/Diploma certificate.
• 10th Pass/Matriculation certificate (Proof of Birth).
• Land Loser Certificate issued by SLAO / Tehsildar & RTC documents (7/12, form No. XIV, etc.) pertaining to the year of KRCL land acquisition.
• Proof of relationship with the land loser (if applicable) / Death certificate and legal heir certificate of the land loser.
• Domicile Certificate.
• Caste Certificate (SC/ST) / OBC-NCL (Non-creamy Layer) certificate issued by Tehsildar as per Central Govt format.
• Valid Income and Asset Certificate for EWS candidates.
• Income certificate issued by Tehsildar for Economically Weaker Section claiming fee waiver.
• “Minority Community declaration” affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper for fee waiver.
• Gazette notification/legal document in case of formal name change.
• Two attested passport-size photographs, Aadhar Card, and PAN Card.
• One set of self-attested photocopies of all the applicable documents.

⚠️ WARNING: Candidates without a valid approved NATS ID will be strictly REJECTED at the time of document verification. Furnishing fake certificates will lead to the termination of the training contract.
