| 👨⚖️ “Qualified Legal Practitioner” Meaning | Means an Advocate or a Pleader who has practiced as such for 4 years OR an Attorney of the High Court of Bombay or Calcutta who has practiced as such for 3 years. |
| ⏳ Age Relaxation | Relaxable for Government Servants up to 5 years in accordance with instructions or orders issued by the Central Government. |
| ℹ️ Discretionary Relaxation (Note 1 & 2) | Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the UPSC in case of candidates otherwise well qualified. Experience is relaxable for SC/ST candidates if sufficient candidates from these communities are not available. |
| ➕ Computing Experience (Note 3) | Any period holding office in State Judicial Service, Legal Dept of a State, Central Govt Legal Affairs, or as a Legal Practitioner can be combined/included together to compute the required 4-year period. |
💼 Nature of Duties of Post
- Putting up precedents on matters referred to the Department of Legal Affairs in the Ministry of Law & Justice.
- Rendering general and Secretarial Assistance to the Officers of the Department of Legal Affairs in disposing of matters referred for legal advice/conduct of litigation.
- Submission of notes and drafts in legal cases.
- Reference and Research Work, wherever necessary.
