The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has published the official notification (Examination Notice No. 08/2026-CAPF) for the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2026. Online applications are invited from eligible Male and Female Indian citizens to fill up 349 Group ‘A’ vacancies across major paramilitary forces: BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB. 🎓 Educational Qualification & Eligibility Conditions

Educational Qualification 🔸 Candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree of a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament.
🔸 Candidates who have appeared at a qualifying examination but result is awaited, or intend to appear in the year 2026, are also eligible to apply (subject to producing proof after qualifying written exam).
🔸 Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications recognised by Govt. as equivalent to a degree are also eligible.
Desirable Qualification 🔸 Possession of NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificate is a desirable qualification. This will be given consideration at the time of the Interview/Personality Test only.
Nationality & Gender 🔸 Must be a citizen of India.
🔸 Both Male and Female candidates are eligible for appointment to the post of Assistant Commandants.
Restriction on Re-appearance 🔸 A candidate who has been finally selected on the basis of an earlier CAPF examination to the post of Assistant Commandants will NOT be eligible to appear at a subsequent examination.

⚖️ Age Limit & Age Relaxation Rules

⚔️ Scheme of Examination & Selection Process

Paper-I: General Ability and Intelligence 250 Objective (Multiple Answers) Type. Set in English & Hindi. (Time: 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon).
*Penalty (Negative Marking) of 1/3rd marks for wrong answers.
Paper-II: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension 200 Descriptive Type. Essay (80 marks – Hindi/English option). Comprehension, Précis etc (120 marks – English only). (Time: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM).
Stage 2 Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests (PET) & Medical Qualifying Only candidates who qualify Written Exam will be called for PST/PET and Medical Standard Tests.
Stage 3 Interview / Personality Test 150 Candidates qualified in Medical/PET will be called for Interview.
Stage 4 Final Selection / Merit Drawn on the basis of marks obtained in Written Exam + Interview/Personality Test.

🔸 Distant Vision: Better eye 6/6 or 6/9, Worse eye 6/12 or 6/9 (corrected vision).
🔸 Near Vision: N6 (Better eye) and N9 (Worse eye) corrected.
🔸 Refractive Errors: -4.00 D (Myopia) and +4.00 D (Hypermetropia).
🔸 LASIK Surgery: Permitted subject to criteria: Age 18-35 yrs, Axial length 21-26 mm, Corneal thickness 425 micron, Pre-LASIK error 6D, stable flap, and completed 06 months after surgery.
🔸 Tattoos: Permitted as per Army rules (Inner aspect of left forearm/dorsum of hands, size less than 1/4th of the particular part).

  1. Visit the official UPSC Online Application website: https://upsconline.nic.in.
  2. Click on the One Time Registration (OTR) link to register and generate your Universal Registration Number (URN) Profile.
  3. Fill the Common Application Form (CAF) and then proceed to the Examination Specific Module for CAPF (ACs) Exam 2026.
  4. Live Photo Capture: Ensure you use a device with a camera to capture a clear live photograph during the application process.
  5. Upload Documents: Upload your scanned photograph (max 200 KB) and three consecutive signatures on a plain white paper with black ink (max 100 KB). Also, keep Photo ID Card details ready.
  6. Pay the required application fee through UPI, Debit/Credit Card, or Internet Banking.
  7. Verify all details and submit the application. Take a printout for future reference.
  8. Last Date to Apply: 12th March 2026 till 18:00 hours. No modifications are allowed after submission, except via the one-time URN profile edit facility.
